Botox and Microblading: Everything You Need to Know.

Female eyes before and after beautiful makeup, eyelash extension, eyebrow liner, microblading, cosmetology procedure, retouch.

For far too long we’ve heard rumors and horror stories of combining Botox and Microblading. While there can be plenty of mishaps while simultaneously receiving your brows and botox, a common myth is that you can’t receive Microblading services if you have any type of injectable or fillers. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

The combination of any type of fillers like Botox, Juvederm or Restylane and Microblading can keep your looks fresh and your skin chic. One service can provide alluring results without the other, however, the two combined can be transformational. While microblading has been a growing trend in recent years, the procedure is considered permanent makeup that should only be done by skilled artists in your local area. Microblading applies pigment to the upper dermis located in the area of brow growth. It not only adds real looking hairgrowth that can change the entire shape, but create a simple and realistic shaped look. On the other hand, Microblading can’t fix fine lines like botox can.

On the other hand, I can’t live without my botox injections. As skin ages, it breaks down and looses collagen within the skin, resulting in looser looking skin and sagged skin under the force of gravity. In this sense, it goes without saying that Botox is one of the easiest ways to reduce not only these issues, but reduce wrinkles, fine lines, gain smoother skin, and even help those who suffer from chronic migraines.

Botox and Microblading Combined

So as a Botox enthusiast, one of the most frequent questions I receive is: Should I get my microblading done before or after detox?

Oftentimes, when Microblading happens first, there can be minimal risk to getting Botox injections the next day. Botox can sometimes cause asymmetry of the brows and if injections happen first, the brow placement may be out of place when the effects of the Botox wear off.

However, I’m here to tell you that the best results happen when there’s a good amount of time between the two procedures. If you decide to have your Botox procedure before you Microblade, wait at least two weeks for your Microblading appointment. If your brows become asymmetric after you have your microblading procedure, I suggest to wait about two weeks after your Botox injection and then return to your doctor. If necessary, the medical professional can inject a few units to correct the asymmetry of your brows. Ideally, if this is all new for you, I suggest waiting a few months to have multiple Botox injections so that you can strategize your brow placement when the time comes. Though, if you decide to end all Botox treatments, the good news is that your brows will settle at their original position.
