Appointments for laser hair removal are at an all time high across the city of Los Angeles, and talented doctors are in high demand.  Laser hair removal is a non-surgical treatment that is booming during this time of year, and particularly during “beach season.”  Once people start realizing that they are going to be spending half of the summer with half (or more) of their clothes off, more and more women (and men) are looking for new solutions for painless hair removal.

Laser hair removal works by targeting the root of the hair follicle.  This kills the follicle, stunning future growth. Generally this treatment works best on people with dark hair and light skin (read: Caucasian brunettes)  Future hair growth is permanently impacted by laser hair removal, and thus hair ceases to grow on the treatment area.  In some cases, follow up visits are necessary in order to fully kill all of the follicles that might not have been active during earlier sessions.

There are a number of at home solutions to remove hair, including:

  • shaving with traditional lasers
  • waxing
  • hair removal creams
  • epilators
  • the No No Hair Removal System
  • Tria
  • Sens Epil

While some of these methods/devices have yielded success, all of them have their downfalls.

Take the popular “No No” hair removal system.  While this has shown to eliminate hair, studies have shown that users must continue to use the No No to have the desired effect.  While it does promise “permanent” hair removal – this is only true if you continue to use it.

One can say the same thing about razors now, couldn’t you?

Nevertheless, laser hair removal is here to stay.  Treatments are also getting cheaper.  There are current specials all over Los Angels of “99 dollar laser hair removal treatments” and 6 treatments for ‘$499″ etc.
